More about Ryan
Ryan Urquhart is an award-winning freelance play-by-play broadcaster with additional expertise in content creation and social media. In 2019, he was recognized as one of the top five collegiate broadcasters by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America.
In 2016, Ryan was hired by Learfield to cover University of Florida athletics, and in 2025 he was elevated to the lead SEC Network+ play-by-play broadcaster for Florida men’s basketball, women’s basketball, softball, gymnastics, and soccer. He also serves as the radio voice for Gators women’s basketball, softball, and soccer.
Since 2021, Ryan has called digital broadcasts on ESPN+ for South Florida and the American Athletic Conference, including championship events in baseball, softball, volleyball, and women’s soccer. His play-by-play experience spans football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, women’s volleyball, and more. He has also served as a radio fill-in for football (sideline) and baseball broadcasts at USF.
At just 22 years old, while still completing his degree, Ryan led the launch and development of the Identity Varsity Network, a project initiated by Vinik Sports Group (ownership of the Tampa Bay Lightning). In addition to leading all play-by-play broadcasts, he managed logistics, engineered hundreds of live broadcasts, created in-game and social media graphics, wrote sponsor reads and preview articles, edited video and photo content, and helped oversee social media for the entire Identity Tampa Bay brand. Over three years, content he created or contributed to generated more than 2.4 million impressions across Twitter and Instagram.
Ryan has made additional stops calling radio and streaming broadcasts at FIU, Bellarmine, the NPF, the NCCAA, the NYCBL, and more.
"From day one, I could tell that he had goals of being a great broadcaster and that he was driven enough to make that happen..."
